QUAQUE HOUSE
After a hectic election to fill in a new set of prefects to continue
with the good deeds of our predecessors, we were finally given the
nod and duly accorded that enviable accolade as Quaque House prefects
of Great Adisco for the 2001/2002 academic year.
To be able to dedicate yourself to improving the standards of life
of a house is no mean a task, it therefore was not strange where
my deputy and I encountered some hiccups at the initial stages during
our tenure of office. Nevertheless, with the competent leadership
of our affable Housemaster in the person of Mr. Stephen Bediako-Sakyi
coupled with the assistance of thirteen other house executives constituting
the house council, w've been able to make a head way and to chalk
a considerable number of successes. So characteristic of the noble
Quaque House.
Quaque, is a well noted house for it's academic exploits. It therefore
came with little surprise, that is if any at all, when during the
90th annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day, the house was conferred
with that very enviable certificate of commendation for being judged
the best academic house among the lot on compus. This year, we had
not less than fifteen members of this house receiving certificates
and prices for soaring high in their fields of study. With personalities
like Ernest ansah, Justin Solomon, Kwadwo Adutwum, Precious Brenni,
to mention but a few, showing high academic prowess and zeal, we
were bound to reach the top of the ladder. Master Previous Brenni
and Ernest Asowah were awarded the best Arts and Science students
respectively. Master Frank A. Kubi's inclusion in the college Science
and Maths Quiz squad is also a morale-booster. My deputy,
Ekow Ben-Crentsil was awarded a certificate for being the most diligent
house prefect. We of Quaque House also believe that academic excellence
cannot be achieve without discipline and good behaviour. Master
Michael Ntim's annexation of the best well-behaved students certificate
speaks volumes of how discipline the inmates are.
Taking a look of our rather antiquated facilities, it is quite
surprising how we manage to hold our own against the relatively
new house to come out tops during our major inspections. Here, mention
must be made of our two hardworking general supervisors, Fiifi O.
Arthur and Joseph A. Banin.
In the field of sports, we have not as yet attained the calibre
of sportsmen to raise aloft our name. Nevertheless, with the striking
and subtle skills of youngsters such as Nathaniel Amasah, Michael
Lawson and the amazing strength of Emmanuel Kummeh and Nesta Osekre,
we are bound to break the jinix surrounding and retarding our unslaughts.
The aljudication of Master Robert Abbey as the best Basket ball
player for the year 2001 indicates how determined we are in the
winning mood we have developed towards sporting activities.
Not forgetting our immense contribution to the religious sector,
the shining examples of Masters Richard W. Bentil (Chapel prefect)
and David Donkor (General Overseer, Harvest Internation Ministry
- Cape Coast) which the house has produced, cannot be over looked.
In terms of comfort, Quaque house has taken a gaint step forward.
The recent provision of ceiling fans to keep their mates cool during
very warm nights, is an example worth citing. The provision of a
First Aid Kit which is always well stocked, has not only smoothened
the agony of many but has also taught us the basic procedures of
administering first-aid.
These feats and many more, have the Housemaster, Executive Council
and the entire student body achieved. To everyone who has made our
term of office a success we say "Ayekoo" and may oil drip
from your already greasy elbows. Long live the noble Quaque House,
to everyone I say "Pughante Summa Vi"

Samuel Augustus Abbey
